AVG Antivirus free is one of the most popular antivirus programs on the market. The company is moving from annual releases to rolling releases: as long as you have a subscription, you ll have the latest version of their software.
Pros
Rolling releases: In the past, buying a copy of AVG would get you regular antivirus updates, but features would not change until you bought the following year s version. Now you can always have the newest version of AVG. It s free: Although it s release method has changed, you can still get a version that costs no money -- though there are a few strings attached more on that in the Cons section below.
Modular installation: AVG has separate components that can monitor your desktop email client and your Web browser for threats, and you can choose to not install both of these, if you have other software that covers these bases already. Cons
Installer gotchas: If you don t intervene by using a custom installation, the installer will put you on a 30-day trial of one of the company s paid products instead of installing AVG Antivirus Free. And it will change your Web browser s homepage and default search engine to Bing.com. PC Analyzer has issues: AVG Antivirus features a PC Analyzer, which checks for registry errors, junk files and broken shortcuts that can be deleted, and disk defragmentation. The problem is, you re not supposed to defrag a solid-state drive, but PC Analyzer did not appear to notice what type of drive it was. The analyzer is also all-or-nothing; you can t skip the defrag or the registry cleaner and just delete junk files and shortcuts, for example. Bottom Line
According to independent testing labs such as AV-Test and AV-Comparatives, AVG uses a solid antivirus engine. But the hoops you have to jump through in the installer and the technical error in the PC Analyzer have an impact on trust and confidence in the product.

AVG is senior in antivirus the more Experience the more quality they give..for 1 decade it improves their software and add some additional feature
only problem on boot..it ad 1 minute of your time..but slowing is a natural part of security..because example if you are going to the mall..there is a SECURITY weeeee checking your things P. The malware virus that you have because of AVG is the advertisement you click..so if you can buy antivirus..buy also some advertisement blocker..you will also help another software product. I don t have money so this free antivirus help me for about a decade just don t click advertisement so no virus malware spyware or some . .support avg

none crap who bought them out a virus programer
everything virus virus shuts down computer and all files virus
I assume the antivirus still works, but it hasn t found any so far. It s free if you chose that option. It s slowed my computer down. I have used AVG for years and been relatively happy. Now with Zen, it is a slow download and it slows my whole computer down. I will most likely change to Avast or another free program. I wouldn t recommend this now. They need to go back to the old AVG. Reply to this review
I suppose it keeps me relatively safe. Not a day goes by without an annoying explorer pop-up or other message asking me to tune up my computer. How often does a man have to say no.. If this isn t solved shortly, I will switch to a different antivirus package. Reply to this review

None - destroyed my computer
Got to the point where I had to restore my system from a backup
STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS My AVG auto updated to the new 2016 version. It completely took over my computer and blew away all of my Web browsers except for Firefox. Google Chrome will not even start. Internet Explorer will not start either, but at least shows a critical error message. So I went to Control Panel to uninstall AVG. When I click Uninstall, it literally says Oops, something went wrong. Contact our friendly customer support. So I click the Contact Customer Support button, and of course nothing happens. It s ironic that an antivirus program is behaving exactly like a virus. This is a DISASTER.. Reply to this review
-It is an antivirus, so there s that.
-Constant prompts to install useless programs that do nothing for you but intrude upon your personal settings. They care more about their clever marketing schemes ie: changing your homepage to their search filled with their ads and constant paid upgrade options than they do about actually providing a useful and unobtrusive service to their customers.
